A. baumannii ATCC 17978 has been used as a laboratory reference strain. A. baumannii ATCC 17978 (Accession-CP000521.1), this reference strain, was annotated on January 1, 2014 but subsequently the same strain was reannotated on March 21, 2017 (NZ_CP018664.1) due to incorrect assembly. Therefore, the genome comparison of both, 2014 and 2017 versions was performed for maintaining the correct annotations as most of the literature data referred to the earlier version of the reference genome. The reference coordinates of the revised reference genome are used to represent manually curated and comprehensively annotated data on 614 essential genes, 1334 genes with known pathway, 81 reported drug targets, genes with reported resistance mechanisms, to gain quick insight into the molecular landscape of AB reference genome.
Circos representing the comparison of both the versions of genomes with their nucleotide sequences of coding genes. The outermost ring (Red) represents the nucleotide position of the CDS of the novel version of the genome. The two following rings within the scale ring depict coding regions (CDSs) (black) and subsequent rings in black representing the whole genome of older versions of the genome. Moving towards the center, the next rings depict the complete genome of the Novel version (red). The innermost ring shows the GC content and GC skew.
Synteny mapping was performed with Sibelia 3.0.7 to determine conserved sequence regions. This alignment resulted in many large synteny locally collinear blocks (LCBs). Each syntenical placement of the homologous region of the genome is represented as a unique colored block, whilst divergent regions are seen as an empty block or line.
